The English Testing Unit is part of the School of Foreign Languages at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT). Its main objectives are to provide assessment and evaluation support for tests of English in all courses and all levels, to develop testing techniques and methods to enhance the standards of tests, and to construct high quality tests to determine students’ English proficiency. The English Testing Unit also provides useful resources for English instructors by developing and maintaining a bank of tests and test items. Importantly, it also offers training in testing, assessment, and evaluation to contribute to language teachers’ development within and outside the university.

Test Administration
The English Testing Unit administers various English tests including Standardized Test for English Proficiency, Tests of English for Specific Purposes, Standardized Tests for Undergraduate Admission, and Standardized Tests for Graduate Admission.

Standardized Test for English Proficiency
The Standardized Test for English Proficiency measures SUT undergraduate students’ ability to use English for academic purposes in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Test of English for Specific Purposes
The Test of English for Specific Purposes measures undergraduate students’ ability to use English for specific academic disciplines; English for Engineering, English for Medicine, and English for Nursing.

Standardized Test for Undergraduate Admission
The Standardized Test for Undergraduate Admission is an English test designed to select candidates for the undergraduate programs in Medicine and Nursing of the Institute of Medicine and the Institute of Nursing.

Standardized Test for Graduate Admission
The Standardized Test for Graduate Admission is an academic English test designed to select candidates for the graduate programs in English, Information Technology, and Management Technology of the Institute of Social Technology.
